Panthers Extend Head Coach Paul Maurice

SUNRISE — Florida Panthers Head Coach Paul Maurice is sticking around in South Florida for a few more years.

On Tuesday, the team announced that the future Hall of Famer and Stanley Cup winning coach signed to a multi-year extension, keeping the 57-year-old in Sunrise for a few more years.

In his first two years behind Florida’s bench,  Maurice led the Panthers to back-to-back Stanley Cup Final appearances, winning the franchise’s — and his — first Stanley Cup in 2024.

Maurice was hired in the summer of 2022, after the Presidents’ Trophy winning Panthers were swept in the second round of the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

A little over two years later, he is already the most accomplished coach in franchise history.

“Paul has resolutely led our organization to unprecedented success during his relatively short tenure in South Florida,” said Panthers GM Bill Zito. “He is a superb communicator and leader for our staff and players, possessing a keen strategic mind for the game. We are excited for Paul and his staff to continue to keep the Florida Panthers as a destination franchise for the foreseeable future.”

Maurice’s contract was set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 NHL season.
