Panthers’ Aleksander Barkov Remains Out With Illness vs Oilers
Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov (illness) will not play in Monday’s 2024 Stanley Cup Final rematch against the Edmonton Oilers.
The 29-year-old forward was a game-time decision for tonight’s contest in Edmonton.
Barkov will be out a second straight game; the Panthers were without him in Saturday night’s 3-0 loss against the Calgary Flames.
“We’re going to be careful with these,” Panthers head coach Paul Maurice said Monday morning. “If he says he can play, I’m not going to monitor his minutes.”
Barkov is currently third on the Panthers in scoring with 29 points (9G, 20A) in 22 games.
The Panthers will look to snap a two-game losing streak — where they were shutout in both contests — without their captain at Rogers Place.
