Lundell, Luostarinen, Mikkola named to Team Finland’s 4 Nations roster
Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov has known since June that he was on FInland’s roster for the 4 Nations Face-Off.
On Wednesday, three of his Panthers teammates — Anton Lundell, Eetu Luostarinen and Niko Mikkola — were also named to the Finnish roster.
Florida, who has the most Finns on its roster in the NHL, had all four of its Finnish players make the national team for the 4 Nations Face-Off, which is set to take place from Feb. 12-20 in Montreal and Boston.
As for the other Panthers who will represent their country next year, defenseman Gustav Forsling was already named to the Swedish team last summer when all the participating countries submitted its first six roster selections in June.
The Americans and Canadains will also be unveiling its rosters on Wednesday, with the live show beginning at 6:30 ET.
Matthew Tkachuk is already locked in for Team USA, alongside Panthers GM Bill Zito who will be serving as an assistant general manager and head equipment manager Teddy Richards, who will be an equipment manager for the Americans.
Canada is the only nation without a Panthers on its roster as of now, however forward Sam Reinhart is an expected lock for the roster. Sam Bennett’s name has also popped up recently as someone who may get the call from Hockey Canada.
At the moment, the Panthers have six confirmed skaters going to the 4 Nations tournament, with it looking like more to come when the Canadians announce its roster later on Wednesday.
