Miami Heat Practice Scrimmage Recap
Addressing some of the overarching takeaways from the Heat’s scrimmage today:
Tyler looked really comfortable today
Handle and playmaking was biggest difference I noticed
He definitely got to his middie, but spot-up threes were limited
He’ll definitely be on the ball a TON https://t.co/mV0dDbnWj2

Play-making and off-ball spacing
He just puts the ball in the right spots
I don’t expect him to be super crazy scoring wise, but his assist numbers will be high, and catch and shoot/DHO threes should be through the roof https://t.co/8LaMktLOX6

Yes PJ was a part of the starting group today and I’d expect that to stand
I wouldn’t say Bam was super aggressive, but he had some nice moves and finishes around the rim
Not a lot of jumpers
But that felt like it’d be the case in a scrimmage like this https://t.co/DA6mFvl7XV

To answer the first part, they definitely “tried” to play faster
But it doesn’t seem like it can be a major reality
Every transition push ended in a kick for a three = predictability
I will say Tyler did a good job on the break today though specifically https://t.co/ab2ZlFGRP3

Two things:
First, efficiency from three is key for him, and we saw that today
Secondly, I think we see him at the 5 a bit
That wasn’t seen today in the scrimmage, but felt like that’s the way we’re trending https://t.co/LGsKa54MvK

He honestly didn’t look very comfortable
Seemed like he was just trying to belong
Struggled a bit defensively, and wasn’t looking to score at all on the offensive end https://t.co/FrOc2LJfbl

The answers to these questions are straight forward
Yes, he got some run
No, I don’t think he even attempted a shot https://t.co/cWc3aKjyBC

Simply no
That group I saw today fits perfectly for what they’re trying to do starting out https://t.co/ffHbj6bE69

If you asked me who had the best day, I think I’d answer Gabe Vincent
Clearly improved his on-ball feel, and made some great reads and passes today
Outside shot was falling too
He looked very good https://t.co/7mP5ZeqwQW

No he didn’t play
But he stood out in another way
His enthusiasm and voice on the bench
He really seems like he enjoys being there, and was really into others success https://t.co/XoBR1EExNu

He got some run and predictably looked pretty good on the defensive end
Fights over screens really well and hounds guys on the ball
Just not much seen offensively at all https://t.co/YohCLtDakC

I will say the bench unit really showed out right out the gate, but it’s also a practice scrimmage
Jimmy Butler takes everything super serious so he lived at the FT line
The Kyle-Bam dynamic was seen immediately
And when Duncan started to shoot more, he really was heating up https://t.co/toqIwcvPNH
