Miami Hurricanes: Alex Mirabal in the fold as offensive line coach

There was a bit of news on Sunday for the Miami Hurricanes as Alex Mirabal changed his Twitter bio. It is now changed to signify the fact that he is the offensive line coach for the Hurricanes.

A former high school teammate of Mario Cristobal’s, Mirabal served as the associate head coach as well as the offensive line coach while the two were at Oregon.

There could be more news for Miami coming on the coaching staff front as early as this week. As the season continues to wind down, more names continue to swirl. Names to keep in mind include Aaron Feld to fill a strength and conditioning role. Joe Salave’a could potentially fill role of defensive line coach.

In addition to those two, Brian McLendon could be named wide receivers coach. Jim Mastro could also join the staff, potentially as a running backs coach. All of the coaches listed above were with Cristobal while he was at Oregon.

Mirabal has coached four NFL draft picks. His most notable one was 2021 first-round selection Penei Sewell. In addition to NFL draft picks, he coached five All-Americans during his time at Oregon.

He is also a solid recruiter recruiting seven four-star lineman in the past two and a half years. He knows how to recruit.

In getting Mirabal, the Miami Hurricanes have a coach that is the complete package. He knows how to develop talent and get that talent to the NFL. Mirabal is very good at identifying talent, as shown by his recruiting prowess. Having a coach that has several areas of strength is a tremendous asset to a staff. Mirabal was a tremendous asset to Cristobal while he was at Oregon, and I have a feeling that will be the case with both of them in Miami.

Mirabal to Miami is a tremendous grab for the Hurricanes. Now all we need to wait for is the rest of the coaching staff to be official.
