Tyreek Hill has his hands on the ball, but Derek Stingley Jr. took it away for the interception that sealed the Dolphins' loss at Houston.

Super Bowl 59: Still hope for the Dolphins?

The Miami Dolphins’ fortunes are fast dwindling, with the latest released rankings placing them at 16th, and 20th through some computer predictions. Current odds of +25000 mean that they are no longer favorites for the Super Bowl. It will be remembered that bookmakers had posted Miami at +2200 in preseason, which marks the 15th-smallest drop of all NFL teams this season. As it stands, the latest odds give them a 0.4% chance of lifting the Lombardi Trophy.

Form and Betting Insights

Miami’s recent outing saw them get the best of the Cleveland Browns, winning 20-3. It was one of the best outings for Tyler Huntley, who completed 22 out of 26 passes for 225 yards, avoiding turnovers at the same time. He also added 52 rushing yards and scored on seven carries, a testament to his mobility.

Running back Devon Achane added 25 rushing yards on 10 carries, snagging two catches for 13 yards. Another standout performer was Tyreek Hill, who amassed 105 yards on nine receptions, averaging 11.7 yards per catch. It was yet another show of inconsistency for the Dolphins despite the win, as they continue to perform against the spread. In 16 games so far, only seven games have gone above the point total. The recent loss to New York Jets has not helped the Dolphin’s case in any way, with leading sportsbooks in SportyTrader’s selection posting declining odds.

Season Overview

Midway, the Dolphins have 6-3 and 2-5 records as favorites and underdogs, respectively, but the struggles aside, fans have witnessed standout performances from their roster. It is worth mentioning quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who has been at the heart of every good performance for the Dolphins. He enjoys a completion rate of 73% and is easily among the best quarterbacks in the NFL this year.

Devon Achane leads the way with 786 rushing yards and five touchdowns, in addition to six scores from 592 receiving yards. Tyreek Hill is Miami’s leading receiver, racking up 939 yards and six touchdowns. The absence of Tua Tagovailoa through injury has taken its toll on Hill, who is aiming to crack the 1,000-yard mark this season. It was reported that he had been playing through a wrist injury for the best part of the season, and he was even a doubt for the New York Jets matchup. He did manage to play, though, but the loss to the Jets came with its share of controversies for Hill.

Leaders in Defense

Zach Sieler leads the team in defense, posting 8.5 sacks, one interception, and 12 TFLs. His partner in crime Jordyn Brooks is the anchor of the defense, with 137 tackles, three sacks, and 11 TFLs, while Tyrel Dodson is not doing bad either. His two interceptions and 103 tackles mean he leads the secondary.

In essence, the recent loss to the Jets in Week 18 has two sides. The Dolphins had their key players out with injury, but then again, it has been the story of the season: inconsistent performances. Their hopes for the playoffs are still alive, but their journey to the Super Bowl doesn’t look good. Odds of +25000 do not look good for a team aiming to play in the Super Bowl.
