Brian Anderson: “We feel confident”

Brian Anderson was the only consistent bat the Miami Marlins had during the 2018 season.

This year, Marlins fans hope to continue to see the growth of this player, who was involved in the Rookie of the Year race, especially up to the All Star Break, and before Acuña and Soto just blew away.

For Anderson, it has been a hard start of the season.

But don’t worry. He’s really not doing anything bad…

He’s just been unlucky, if you can talk about luck in baseball. So far, he’s 4 for 24, with a double and an RBI.

Both of those came on last night’s game, right after I had this conversation with him about hitting the ball hard, and not being rewarded about it.

“I feel good. I have barrelled a couple of balls. It’s a grind when you’re not getting those hits, but there are a lot of good things to take away from this start of the season,” Brian Anderson said, before the 6-5 loss against the Mets on Tuesday.

No Pressure, yet

It’s still early in the season, but as numbers keep piling up, it gets harder and harder to recover from a “slow” start. For Anderson though, there’s no pressure. “If anything, I just feel pressure to help my team. If I’m going out there and getting good at bats, I am helping my team. It’s not always about getting a hit”, Anderson said. “Being there defensively, talking to my teammates, there are a lot of things I can do to help.”

Los Marlins de Miami dividieron en su primera serie ante un contendiente a los playoffs y disputaron un cerrado encuentro con los Mets de Nueva York en el prime juego de su segunda serie.

Todo el mundo habla del buen pitcheo abridor que ha tenido el equipo, y de una que otra actuación sobresaliente del bullpen, pero en realidad nadie se ha enfocado en vislumbrar cómo será el lineup cuando llegue la hora de competir de verdad en la división.

En el EP 28 de Cinco Razones, Ricardo Montes de Oca, Leandro Soto y Alejandro Villegas dieron un vistazo hacia el futuro y contaron quiénes estarán en esa alineación ganadora una vez les toque pelear de verdad con Mets de Nueva York, Filis de Filadelfia, Nacionales de Washington y Bravos de Atlanta.

Para Miami, que ya este año tiene una rotación que en el papel se ve decente, su mayor fortaleza será el pitcheo, a menos que hagan una firma en la agencia libre, como la de Francisco Lindor, el anhelo de Ricardo Montes de Oca.

Edwin Díaz se enteró de que le tocaba mudarse de costa en los Estados Unidos a través de las aplicaciones en su teléfono.

El nuevo cerrador de los Mets de Nueva York supo que tenía que mudarse a la Gran Manzana gracias al poder, alcance y velocidad de las redes sociales.

No hubo una llamada formal, ni un email, carta o mensaje de la oficina de los Marineros de Seattle, sino una notificación en su teléfono.

“Edwin Díaz ha sido cambiado junto al segunda base estrella Robinson Canó, a los Mets de Nueva York, por el jardinero Jay Bruce, los lanzadores Anthony Swarzak, Gerson Bautista, y Justin Dunn, además del jardinero Jarred Kelenic.”

Eso fue lo que leyó Díaz, y así supo que le tocaba cruzar el país para jugar, e integrarse a una nueva edición de los metropolitanos, que busca competir en el Este de la Liga Nacional. “No sabía nada. Me enteré por la prensa”, afirmó el boricua.

Ricardo Montes de Oca tuvo la oportunidad de conversar con Díaz antes del comienzo de la serie de tres encuentros que disputarán ante Miami, y esto fue lo que le dijo sobre los cambios de regla que se avecinan con el pitcheo, y su cambio de ambiente, de Seattle a Nueva York.

Marlins Drop Opening Day To The Rockies 6-3

The new-look Miami Marlins went down to the Colorado Rockies 6-3 at new-look Marlins Park on Opening Day. Jose Ureña was chased out in the 5th inning after Trevor Story jacked a solo home run over the Clevelander.

The fans on the new standing room only porch where the home run sculpture used to be (RIP) still seemed to have a nice time.
